Letter from Club President

As the new president of the Mesa Democratic Club, I join other electeds in thanking our members for their support as we begin this important 2012 election year. Newt Ferris will now serve serve as Vice President, Phyllis Matthis as Treasurer and Joe Schneider and Carl Manaster as Secretary and Alternate.

At our January meeting we also held a Candidate Forum with Lori Saldaña and Scott Peters, two great Democrats who are running for Congress in District 52. After a great exchange of questions and answers, our Club endorsed Lori Saldaña.

In February the California Democratic Convention will be held right here in San Diego. While only delegates will have voting rights, I encourage other club members to attend as observers. Senator Dianne Feinstein will be speaking at the Convention Luncheon, Senator Al Franken will be speaking at the Convention Dinner, and Van Jones, Co-founder of Rebuild the Dream will be speaking at the Chairman's Reception.

Don't forget that the San Diego County Democratic Party will be holding our Annual Roosevelt Dinner in April this year. This is alway an exciting opportunity to recognize those who have worked so diligently for the good of our Democratic Party. The Silent Auction is always fun, the food is yummy, the company is great, and the speakers are top notch. MDC will be reserving a table or two, so be sure & sign up early.
