State of the Union:

President Obama reviewed both accomplishments and setbacks of his first year in office. He is committed to job building, urged Congress not to abandon health reform. “Do not walk away from reform. Not now. Not when we are so close.” He pledged to seek the end of ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ for service members. He called the effort “The right thing to do." Republicans sat stoicly and unsmiling, while our President observed that Americans are not quiters and "I am not a quitter." A good evening for Democrats!

Quotation & Attribution

"We know now that Government by organized money is just as dangerous as Government by organized mob.... [The organized moneyed people] are unanimous in their hate for me and I welcome their hatred.... I should like to have it said of my second administration that these forces met their master."

Franklin D. Roosevelt (1882-1945), U.S. president.

In this campaign speech FDR responded to the attacks (by Republicans) on him as a radical who aroused class antagonism and acted as a dictatorial leader.
